A special meeting of the Grand Island City Council will take place this Friday to pass a resolution that would allow city officials to answer questions posed by the Central Nebraska Veterans Home Site Selection Committee about the city's proposed site.
According to the city council's agenda, some questions that need to be addressed include the possibility of removing 45 acres from the flood plain and possible usage of a geothermal system for the new home.
The agenda also says the Grand Island Home for Our Heroes Committee discussed these topics during a committee meeting held on Monday.
The committee agreed that the council should publicly address the concerns and state clearly the City's responses to those questions.
The Grand Island City Council will meet Friday night at 6PM at City Hall.
