Officials with the Nebraska State Fair say they are very happy with this year's attendance numbers despite the intense heat that plagued much of the fair.
State Fair Board Chair Jana Kruger and Executive Director Joseph McDermott say that the fair was well attended once again with many fairgoers saying they had a good or great experience on the fairgrounds.
Kruger says that this year's survey numbers prove the fair continues to improve every year.
Kruger says, "This a true indicator that the Nebraska State Fair has risen to the challenge each year by adding new and exciting features in entertainment."
McDermott says one reason for the slight dip in attendance was because the heat kept many away.
McDermott says, "Quite honestly people weren't used to that temperature. It was tough out here for those of us who were outside constantly. Your body just acclimated to that. We're very fortunate and feel very fortunate we were only down a couple thousand."
This year's fair had a little under 335,000 people, less than half a percent compared to last year's attendance of 336,000.
Sunday was a record day for the fair with over 71,000 people on the fairgrounds compared to later year's 58,000.
