With competitors and their families pouring into Grand Island today to take part in the 2014 Cheer and Dance Championships, many local businesses are hoping to see an uptick in business.
Grand Island Commercial and Visitor Bureau Executive Director Brad Mellema spoke with KRGI News. He says with so many people coming to town, many of their needs must be met as well.
Mellema says, "The groups, the teams and families need a place to stay so they'll check into hotels. Also, they'll need to eat, so various restaurants will see an uptick in visitors."
The 2014 Cheer and Dance Championship starts today and will run through the weekend at the Heartland Event Center.
